What is a Lifestyle Portrait? - A lifestyle portrait shoot is a photo shoot outdoors in a choice of locations throughout Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. The photo shoot is informal with the emphasis being on natural scenes rather than formally posed portraits.
How will I get my photographs? - After the photo shoot I will send you a USB stick with your images on it so you can print and share your images as you wish. What if it is not a sunny day? - It is a common misconception that sunny days are best for photography. In fact an overcast day gives the best light for a portrait as it creates soft shadows. The only weather condition I cannot shoot in is heavy rain. Light rain can give opportunities to have a fun photo shoot with umbrellas. If the weather is looking bad I will always communicate with you to discuss whether you wish to go ahead or change the day of the photo shoot. There is no charge for changing the day of the photo shoot.
Do I have to order a set type of picture frame / size of print? - There are certain sizes of prints and types of picture frames that are very popular like the 10x8 inch print and the acrylic picture frame. However I will talk through with you what kind of product you are thinking of buying after the shoot and I will tailor products to your needs. There is no hard sell. Just beautiful photographs, professionally printed and framed.
What should I wear for the portrait shoot? - I have put together the following pointers to help you plan for the day:
1. From experience with my own two boys. I have found it is best to wear what you feel comfortable in for the photo shoot, as if you feel uncomfortable it will show in the photographs. Smart casual is best. 2. As a family try to wear complimentary colours, and remember the shoot will be outdoors so avoiding colours that will camouflage you is a good idea. 3. Try and avoid large logos and brand names as you want the photographs to be about you, not the make of clothes you are wearing. 4. If the children want to bring any items that are special to them to make the shoot more interesting and personal, then please bring it along. A special teddy for the little ones, or a football or scooter for the older children. 5. I will bring a throw for the seated shots if it has been raining. 6. Finally the shoot is about capturing the essence of your family in a photograph. It's about capturing what makes you as a family unique. It will be informal and fun, but the result will be photographs that you will be proud to display for years to come.
